A 23-year-old man may face up to 15 years in prison for allegedly pushing his friend through the glass window of their sixth floor hotel room and to his death, in an incident that involves shower peeping and alcohol.
According to the police, the suspect, MA (23), stayed at the hotel in Semarang, Central Java on Sunday along with the victim and two other friends, all of whom are aspiring lawyers. They retreated to their room inebriated following a party celebrating the end of legal training nearby, when MA decided to have a shower to clear his head.
MA told the police that he was livid when the victim violated his privacy.
“He peeped twice when I was in the shower. I slammed the door hard,” MA said, adding that the door grazed the victim just above his eye, producing a wound.
Tension escalated between the pair, and they engaged in a physical confrontation that led to the tragedy.
“The victim launched himself at me. I pushed him to avoid him slamming me, but he ended up going through the window,” MA said.
The victim fell from the sixth floor and landed on a second floor balcony at the hotel. He reportedly died upon impact.
MA has been charged with murder and may face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
