“The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined but according to locals, the explosion came from Haji Romli’s house. [Someone] was cooking noodle and forgot to shut off [the stove] causing the explosion,” said Mampang Village Chief Ramli, as quoted by Merdeka yesterday.

Ramli said the fire started at around 5:30pm. Firefighters managed to put out the fire some half an hour later, leaving ten houses in the densely populated slum destroyed by fire.

Thankfully, there were no human casualties from the fire.
