A young man, identified as Raimond, was beaten up and almost burned alive by locals in Rawamangun, Pulogadung, East Jakarta. Raimond was apparently rowdy and disruptive after he got drunk on Tuesday evening.
“Raimond was intoxicated. He was about to be burned [alive], he was already doused in fuel. But it didn’t happen. [The locals] ended up only beating him up,” said Pulogadung District Head Haryadi today, as quoted by Vivanews.
The locals supposedly had enough of Raimond’s drunken behavior after he challenged some locals to a fight and even attacked a few of them.
A mob of angry locals then beat up Raimond and were about to set him on fire before police officers showed up to arrest Raimond and four locals.
Raimond is currently being treated at the Omni Pulomas Hospital. He received 114 stitches all around his body from being beaten by the mob.
