Learn about the science of sharing and more at Social Media Week Jakarta (Feb 23-27)

You’ve no doubt heard about how Jakarta is crazy about social media. Twitter CEO Dick Costolo himself once told the Indonesian media that the reason the internet giant was opening an office in Jakarta was because “With up to 2.7 million users, Jakarta is the most active city in terms of Twitter use.” 

So it’s no wonder Jakarta was one of the 26 cities around the world to host Social Media Week events this year. But what’s surprising is that it was the only city in Southeast Asia to be given hosting duties (suck it, Singapore).

Social Media Week is a global conference that takes place in cities throughout the world and throughout the year. It’s event meant to brings together those working in fields including tech startups, publishing companies, marketers and anybody else interested in learning about the latest trends from the industry’s biggest leaders.

There are definitely some important figures from the social media and technology arena coming to speak at Social Media Week Jakarta: 

Scott Lamb, the international vice president for Buzzfeed will be giving a talk on “Understanding the Art & Science of Social Sharing.” Also conducting talks will be Anthony Tan, the founder and CEO of Grab Taxi, Rick Mulia, the head of business for Twitter Indonesia, and William Tunggaldjaja, the new Indonesian country manager for Path.

Oh, and the keynote address will be given by none other than Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, who will discuss his recently implement Jakarta Smart City program. Anybody who needs or wants to use social media in some capacity for your business should surely be able to find some new insights here.
