With all of its expensive high-tech gear and sensors, you would think a Lamborghini wouldn’t even be capable of driving on the wrong side of the road. That is, unless, the person behind the wheel is a complete idiot.
At around 4pm yesterday, the driver, identified as Liles (26), drove his Lamborghini on the wrong side of Jalan Boulevard Barat in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. Going at high speed, he crashed his car onto a motorcycle driven by Endah Suprapti (39).
Endah received serious injuries from the crash.
“The victim has deep cuts on her head, cuts on her left leg, and a bruised stomach. She was taken to Mitra Kelapa Gading Hospital in intensive care,” said Budiyanto, head of the Jakarta Police’s Law Enforcement sub-directorate, as quoted by Vivanews yesterday.
At this point, it’s unknown what possessed Liles to drive on the wrong side of the road. The police have arrested him and taken him into custody for questioning.
As is the case with many supercars in Jakarta, Liles’ Lamborghini wasn’t registered properly. The license plate and registration on the car was actually filed under Liles’ other car, an Audi.
Seriously, if Liles could afford to buy a Lambo, then he should be able to pay its astronomical taxes as well. Or maybe he’s actually financially insecure and had to take out several loans to fulfill his hedonistic auto needs (that would explain the tax evasion). If that’s the case, we hope he’ll be haunted by his debts for the rest of his days.
The police have not yet charged Liles for his crime. We wouldn’t be surprised if he gets away from this unscathed, like how a certain rich momma’s boy won’t even step foot inside a prison cell despite killing four people in an attempted hit-and-run.
