KRL Commuterline trains are among the most crowded modes of public transportation in the Greater Jakarta Area, especially during rush hour. Pregnant women, especially those who are in the earlier stages of pregnancy, can sometimes find it hard to get a seat — even on designated priority seats.
As an attempt to solve this problem, KRL Commuterline operator PT KCI recently announced the release of the Pin Khusus Ibu Hamil (special badge for pregnant women) to celebrate Indonesia’s National Customer Day, which falls today. The badge is meant to be worn by pregnant women on board the KRL Commuterline to hopefully make it easier for them to get a seat.

“The special badge for pregnant women is expected to help identify pregnant women, especially during the gestational age of the first trimester when they are not yet physically seen [to be pregnant] so they can get a seat on board when they are traveling with the KRL Commuterline,” the caption reads.
Starting today, expectant mothers can register themselves online, at train stations (Bekasi, Bogor, Juanda, Duri, Sudirman, and Tanah Abang), as well as railway communities (Bekasi, Depok-Bogor, Nambo, Serpong, and Duri-Tangerang lines). They need to prepare an ID card (KTP), a multi-trip card, a recent photo as well as a letter from the hospital or midwife that states their baby’s gestational age or predicted date of birth.
The badge can be collected at the community office or train station agreed upon during the registration process.
