KRL Commuterline operators PT KCI has pledged assistance to a female passenger who tweeted that she was sexually harassed on board the train for two days in a row.
On Wednesday, the alleged victim took to Twitter to describe two horrifying incidents on the KRL Commuterline she experienced in the two days prior.
She said that on Monday, on the Bekasi-Kampung Bandan line, a male passenger stood uncomfortably close behind her as he appeared to rub his crotch against her behind. After he left, she found what appeared to be semen left on the back of her skirt.
On Tuesday, she said she felt a male passenger grab her behind as she was disembarking from the train at Tanah Abang station.
PT KCI yesterday said in a statement that the company is urging the alleged victim to report the incidents to the police if she hasn’t already done so.
“We are ready to assist and provide full support for the victim. We will be by the victim’s side should this become a criminal case,” PT KCI spokesperson Leza Arlan said.
Amid a spate of sexual harassment cases on railway facilities, state train operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) recently published a PSA informing victims not to hesitate to report culprits to train employees or by sending DMs to the company’s official social media accounts. PT KAI said it is committed to banning culprits for life and to aid victims in pressing criminal charges against them.
