The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) yesterday evening conducted a search of the offices belonging to members of the Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) over an allegedly shady land acquisition deal.

Six KPK investigators reportedly arrived at the DPRD building at 6:10pm and left at 8:55pm. During that time, they searched the 10th floor of the building, which houses the office of DPRD Speaker Prasetyo Adi Marsudi, as well other floors belonging to the Gerindra, Golkar, PSI, PKB, PKS and PPP factions.

The investigators were seen leaving the building carrying suitcases containing documents reportedly pertaining to a 2018-19 land procurement deal in Pulo Gebang, East Jakarta.

Yoory Corneles Pinontoan, a former CEO of a region-owned enterprise (BUMD) responsible for the construction of residential facilities under former Governor Anies Baswedan’s cornerstone zero down payment housing program, was last year sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison after he was found guilty of bribing private companies in the land acquisition deal.

Controversial former DPRD Deputy Speaker M. Taufik, whose office was also searched yesterday by KPK, has been in the anti-graft body’s sights in relation to the case since last year. He has denied any involvement in the case.

Prasetyo has guaranteed the council’s full transparency and cooperation in KPK’s investigation.
