The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) this morning announced the arrest of Bogor Regent Ade Yasin over suspicion of her involvement in a bribery scandal.
The anti-graft agency said Ade was nabbed during a sting operation in West Java, which began yesterday evening and carried on into early this morning.
“Among those [arrested] were the Bogor regent, several people from the West Java office of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), and other parties,” KPK spokesman Ali Fikri said today.
KPK has not yet disclosed details regarding the bribery case.
Ade, 53, has been in office since December 2018.
Notably, she is the sister of former Bogor Regent Rahmat Yasin, who is currently serving his two year and eight month sentence for bribery, which was handed down in 2021.
Amazingly, Rahmat had only left prison in May 2019 after he was sentenced to five years and six months in prison for misappropriating the region’s budget for his election campaign in 2014.
