Five children are currently under the protection of the Commission for the Protection of Indonesian Children (KPAI) after their parents allegedly neglected and abused them in their home in Cibubur, East Jakarta.
“From the initial psychological assessment, the five children are in different psychological states. Some are deeply depressed, some are stable, some are sometimes upset and sometimes normal,” said KPAI Secretary General Erlinda at the Jakarta Police Headquarters today, as quoted by Kompas.
8-year-old AD, the only boy among his siblings, was allegedly kicked out of the house six months ago and wasn’t allowed to go to school for the past month. The KPAI also suspect that he’s a child abuse victim.
“With AD, he looks very distressed and physically there were a few injuries that were visible,” Erlinda said.
But the KPAI is waiting on the results from an official medical examination before concluding that AD was abused.
The children’s parents, known by the initials T (45) for the father and N (42) for the mother, have been detained since Thursday while they are interrogated by the Jakarta Police.
