A hot cup of kitten to start your day
Jakartans love Japanese things – from sushi and manga to cosplay and girl idol groups, people in the Indonesian capital can’t get enough of it. The latest Japanese cultural phenomenon to make its way to Jakarta is coming to Kemang. And it’s going to be fluffy and adorable.

That’s right, South Jakarta’s trendiest neighborhood is getting its very own cat cafe. Named, appropriately enough, Cutie Cats Cafe. In case you’re not exactly sure what a cat cafe is, it’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like – a cafe where you can watch and play with cats.

The first cat cafe opened in Tokyo in 2005 and there are at least 39 located in the Japanese megalopolis. Cat cafes have since spread to cities all over the world, including Amsterdam, Dubai, Melbourne, Bangkok and Singapore
On its Instagram feed, Cutie Cats Cafe says it will be opening on Jalan Kemang 1 in February.

Cutie’s Instagram also claims, “Yes, we are different! Beyond being just a cat cafe, we work together with cat experts in Indonesia to provide comfort for cats and cat lovers.”
They’re also looking to hire somebody full-time – the job description says, “Play with cats!”
