Recently, President Joko Widodo has been spending a lot of time in Istana Bogor (Bogor Palace), conducting official meeting and moving some of his personal things to the historic state building located in Jakarta’s satellite city.
Many suggest it’s because the president, stressed out by the ongoing battle between the police and the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK), prefers the peace and quiet of Bogor and is planning to move there in some official capacity.
But Vice President Jusuf Kalla recently reminded Jokowi that he should not get too used to working out of Bogor.
According to Kalla, the President and Vice President must be in the nation’s capital to oversee the government.
“I think he should not forget that the president and vice president should be in the nation’s capital for the good of the government,” Kalla said on Monday as quoted by Vivanews.
Kalla said he was not sure why Jokowi seemed comfortable in Bogor, but guessed that it was because it helped keep him calm and focused.
