The Jokowi clan has a reason to be cheerful today: eldest son Gibran Rakabuming Raka (Boom Shakalaka?) officially wed his long-time girlfriend Selvi Ananda in Solo, Central Java.
Selvi, who won the Miss Solo beauty pageant in 2009, was dressed in a traditional Javanese white kebaya, while Gibran practically looked like a young Jokowi as the happy couple said their vows this morning.
Gibran and Selvi were married at the Banjarsari Religious Affairs Office (KUA).
“I accept my marriage to Selvi Ananda binti Didit Supriyadi by giving her a wedding ring and prayer equipment that I paid for in cash,” Gibran said during his vows, as observed by CNN Indonesia.
Their wedding reception is being held today at the Graha Saba Buana building in Solo. Some notable guests include PDI-P Chairwoman (and, dare we say, Gibran’s father’s boss) Megawati Soekarnoputri, along with high-ranking government officials like Marine and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti.
We wish Gibran and Selvi all the best. We hope Gibran can smile more often from now on, given that he’s mostly remembered for yelling at the media on his father’s presidential inauguration day.
