Members of Commission V of the DPR are urging President Joko Widodo to formulate the mid-term national development plan (RPJMN) and strategic plans for ministries and government institutions (Renstra K/L), instead of spending a lot of his time on impromptu field visits, or ‘blusukan’.
“One of the most important things we discussed at the internal Commission V meeting was the president and his ministries’ tendency to go blusukan. It’s best if they do not waste their time on such sporadic tasks,” said Deputy Leader of Commision V Yudi Widiana Adia on Thursday.
“To begin with, they should come up with the RPJMN and Rentra K/L that, according to the law, is their responsibility,” the PKS Party politician added.
Yudi said the RPJMN is a list of the current administration’s vision, missions, and programs. The RPJMN should include national development strategies, public policies and ministry programs, among others.
“Ever since [President Jokowi] was inaugurated on October 20, we still don’t know the president and his ministries’ vision and mission for the country. What we see instead is them going blusukan,” Yudi said.
“We don’t even know where they got the money for those [blusukan] activities, as well as for the launch of President Jokowi’s social welfare cards.”
According to Yudi, President Jokowi’s time is running out.
“Our advice is, in the two months they have left, the government should focus on strategic planning so their achievements can be measured and that they can show themselves to be responsible,” Yudi said.
