No need to rush to catch your next flight out of CGK (actually, that’s a terrible advice — better safe than sorry!) — Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport was named the third least punctual airport in the world by UK-based air travel data analysts OAG.

The firm recently released a new report measuring the On Time Performance (OTP) of 513 airports around the world from June 2017 to May 2018. Soekarno-Hatta, with an OTP of 58.5% out of 490,585 flight during that period, came in at an embarrassing 511th, just above airports in Islamabad and Tunis. The score earned Soekarno-Hatta the lowest possible one-star rating.

Of course, being Japanese, the title for most punctual airport in the world in the report goes to Nagoya’s Komaki Airport with an OTP score of 94.5%.

Even though the report seems comprehensive with its inclusion of hundreds of airports, Soekarno-Hatta was actually the only Indonesian airport in the list, and the report also only included airports from five ASEAN nations. In that respect, Soekarno-Hatta still fared terribly against its regional neighbors, with KL’s KLIA scoring 66.4%, Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi scoring 72.5%, and Singapore’s Changi scoring 80.3%.

Tardiness isn’t necessarily synonymous with Indonesian airports, though. Another, albeit monthly, report by OAG released in April put Surabaya’s Juanda Airport as the most punctual airport in Southeast Asia with an OTP score of 95.5%, higher than the famously punctual Changi (though it must be noted Juanda handles far fewer flights).

OTP for airports refers to the percentage of departures and arrivals that take place within 15 minutes of its schedule.
