Joining the plethora of venues opening up for COVID-19 jabs in the capital, MRT Jakarta is launching a vaccination drive tomorrow targeting those who still have to be on the move despite the ongoing tightened restrictions (those in essential sectors can still work from their office, of course).
MRT passengers can register to get a jab at the ASEAN MRT station in Kebayoran Baru via the JAKI smart city mobile app. The administration of the first dose of the CoronaVac vaccine, developed by Chinese pharmaceutical firm Sinovac, is set to commence from July 8 to July 10, while the second dose will be scheduled 28 days after the first.

In JAKI, passengers aged 18 and above can register using their ID card (KTP) number, while those aged 12-17 can register using their citizenship identification number (NIK) found in their Family Card (KK). At the station, passengers must bring their identification document as well as a printed out pre-screening card from JAKI.
Pregnant women and people who have recovered from COVID-19 within less than three months are not allowed to receive a jab at the venue. Those who have been registered to receive jabs elsewhere are also ineligible.
“We are delighted to be able to support the government in a collective effort to accelerate COVID-19 vaccination,” MRT Jakarta president director William Sabandar said in a statement today.
Indonesia is indeed accelerating its mass vaccination program somewhat in recent weeks. Following President Joko Widodo’s order to have at least 1 million people vaccinated per day starting in July, Indonesia has met that target on four separate days so far.
Indonesia has administered full dosage of the COVID-19 vaccine to 14.4 million people since the national mass vaccination program began in January, which represents 5.3 percent of the total population. The government is aiming to fully inoculate 70 percent of the total population, or around 181.5 million people, by early 2022.
