People aren’t just incredibly angry about Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Tedjo Edhi Purdjianto’s comments about the people showing their support for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as being “not clear.” Some of them are now taking legal action over the insulting comment.
The Jakarta Residents Forum (Fakta) reported Tedjo to the Police Criminal Investigation Department today over his controversial comments.
“We consider Pak Tedjo, as a minister, to have insulted the people of Indonesia,” said Fakta Chairman Azas Tigor Nainggolan at the offices of the Police Criminal Investigation Department in Jakarta today, as quoted by Antara.
Azas came to the Criminal Investigation Police along with seven other people including lawyers and citizens. As evidence, they brought media reports of Tedjo’s comments.
“We have reported him based on the articles of defamation, namely Article 310 and Article 311 of the Criminal Code. But the police can determine,” Azas said.
“As a minister he should apologize. And as a citizen, he should be subject to the law,” he said before asking the police to follow up on the report.
