Jakarta provincial government to recall old Transjakarta buses

The Jakarta provincial government instructed city-owned PT Transjakarta to recall old buses from their fleet to ensure high quality bus service in the city.

Vice Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat himself gave the order to PT Transjakarta First Director Antonius Kosasih.

“I already told Pak Kosasih. The old buses should be caged (recalled) to avoid risks. Those buses manufactured in 2003-2004 are still operational,” Djarot said at City Hall yesterday, as quoted by Metro TV.

Djarot added that one faulty Transjakarta bus could cause a domino effect of delays to other buses, jeopardizing the entire operation.

He’s also urging Transjakarta to evaluate their drivers, particularly in light of a recent increase in accidents involving Transjakarta buses.
