Jakarta Provincial Government declared a drug-free zone as 13 civil servants cleared of drug charges

Out of 72,000 Jakarta civil servants, 0 tested positive for illegal narcotics consumption

It looks like Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama’s surprise drugs test earlier this month uncovered exactly zero offenders. The 13 civil servants who previously tested positive for morphine use were not found guilty of consuming illegal narcotics.

Jakarta Regional Secretary Saefullah said the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in Jakarta found no traces of illegal drug consumption following hair tests on the 13 civil servants. He said they all tested positive for morphine from consuming medicinal drugs legally obtained from healthcare professionals.

“Everyone’s cleared. The results are clear and there’s no problem,” Saefullah said on Saturday, as quoted by Kompas.

The 13 civil servants can now resume their respective jobs in the administration. That said, BNN Jakarta said it would still closely monitor the unlucky 13 to make sure they follow their doctors’ prescriptions.

If the Jakarta Provincial Government is indeed drug-free, then we can say that our faith in the city’s civil servants has been restored.
