The Traffic Directorate at the Jakarta Police has put into effect a dedicated motorcycle lane in Jalan Gatot Subroto, South Jakarta, to alleviate traffic jams on the busy road.
“[Motorcycles] often zigzag through causing a traffic mess,” said Budiyanto, head of Operations at the Jakarta Police Traffic Directorate, as quoted by Tempo yesterday.
The motorcycle lane is separated from the regular lane using traffic cones. Motorcycles have to drive on the dedicated lane on weekdays from 6am to 10am.
At the moment, the lane stretches along Jalan Gatot Subroto from the Tax Office to the Jakarta Police Headquarters.
