Jakarta Police Chief: Motorcycle robbers now commit crimes in the afternoon

Jakarta Police Chief Unggung Cahyono

Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Unggung Cahyono said his men have to be even more vigilant in patrolling and keeping the city safe from motorcycle robbers from now on. The police believe motorcycle robberies are no longer just happening late at night.

“There’s been a shift from night time [robberies]. Now [the robberies] happen even earlier,” Unggung said, as quoted by Tempo yesterday.

“We start patrol from 1pm until the evening [now].”

Unggung added that citizens should still exercise extreme caution on the road despite there being a more extensive police surveillance for motorcycle robbers in the city. Specifically, he said motorcyclists should avoid taking quiet roads at all times if possible.
