We’re sure that being a police officer is a stressful job, especially in the chaotic capital of Indonesia. Jakarta Police Chief Tito Karnavian even claimed that several of his officers are close to madness due to stress – as well as a lack of “resting places.”

“There are 14 members of the police force who are approaching madness. They are stressed because they have huge workloads but no resting place,” Tito said as quoted by Kompas

Chief Tito was specifically referring to officers at the Central Jakarta Police office in Kramat. He went to City Hall today to talk to Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama about several issues, including the cramped conditions at the Kramat Station, which is also forcing police officers to illegally park on the street outside the station, causing traffic jams.

Thanks to Tito’s pleas, Ahok announced that he would have the Central Jakarta Police Station moved to a new location.

“We want to build a new Central Jakarta Police Station so that there are places for all police officers to rest. As for the existing office in Kramat, we will change it into a sector or subsector office, which are smaller,” Ahok said, adding that the Jakarta Government would procure the land necessary to build the new police station.
