Jakarta Police have arrested six members of an international drug syndicate distributing methamphetamines and happy five.
Over the course of their investigation into the syndicate, lasting from Feb 13-18, the police seized 18.29 kilograms of methamphetamine and 45,000 happy five pills.
The director of the Police Narcotics Division, Commissioner Eko Daniyanto, said the six suspects consist of four Indonesian citizens, one Nigerian and one from Hong Kong.
“They are from three groups with different connections, two running a Hong Kong-Jakarta network and another running a network between Malaysia, Aceh and Jakarta,” said Eko on Tuesday as quoted by Kompas.
According to Eko, the highest quality methamphetamines are produced in Guangzhou, China. He also said the methamphetamines brought in from Hong Kong were smuggled into Indonesia a number of ways, including air parcel delivery.
