Police in Jakarta have arrested a middle-aged man for threatening a construction worker with an airsoft gun.

A clip has gone viral recently depicting the suspect, 54-year-old RPB, pointing the non-lethal weapon at the victim, SES. Police say that SES was carrying out renovation work at the house next to RPB’s in the affluent neighborhood of Pondok Indah, South Jakarta.

“The noise [from the renovation work], such as hammering on the wall, disturbed the suspect, who was at home and in a Zoom meeting,” Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Endra Zulpan said during a press conference today.

Before taking out his airsoft gun, Zulpan said RPB had asked SES to cut the noise on two occasions. However, SES ignored RPB and carried on with his work.

“And then the suspect pointed his airsoft gun at the victim, telling him to choose between getting shot in the knee or the foot,” Zulpan said.

RPB did not actually shoot SES.

Nevertheless, RPB was arrested and charged with making a violent threat, which is punishable by up to 1 year in prison under the KUHP (Criminal Code).
