An Indonesian woman holidaying in the Cambodian resort town of Siem Reap was allegedly raped numerous times by a Nigerian man several days ago.

As reported by the Khmer Times, The victim, 22, traveled to Siem Reap by bus from Vietnam on May 31. Once there, she met the suspect, a 38-year-old named Esin Nyong John, who claimed to be a Cambodian national and said he would show the victim around town.

After convincing the victim that he would take her to a guesthouse, John instead abducted her and took her to a room he had rented. There, he allegedly raped her three times overnight and threatened to harm her with a knife if she shouted for help.

John then fled and left the victim in the room. However, after receiving a report from the victim, local police swiftly arrested John at a gas station on June 1.

Police said that John, who had been residing in Siem Reap since 2015, admitted to sexually assaulting the victim.

Indonesian officials have not yet issued a statement regarding the alleged sexual assault. Reports did not mention the victim’s whereabouts or current condition.
