A 3-year-old child in Samarinda, East Kalimantan is undergoing rehabilitation after he inadvertently drank water out of a bottle his neighbor used as a homemade bong for meth consumption.
According to local police, on June 9, N’s parents noticed that he was unusually hyperactive, had trouble sleeping, and had lost his appetite.
N’s parents first thought that their child was possessed by a malevolent spirit, but they soon learned that he drank water from their neighbor ST’s bong bottle.
“[ST] had no idea that the water bottle, which he had previously used as a bong, would still trigger stimulant effects,” East Kalimantan Police spokesman Yusuf Sutejo told reporters yesterday.
Samarinda Police Chief Ary Fadli said N is recovering from the adverse effects of the meth.
“But to maximize recovery he needs to be monitored at a rehab center. There are doctors and experts there who are competent in ensuring his recovery,” he said.
Police have arrested ST on charges of violating the Narcotics Law and the Child Protection Law, which could see him imprisoned for between five to 10 years.
