Two-year-old M is currently in medical quarantine after he was suspected of contracting the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) coronavirus from a recent trip to South Korea.

M is currently being treated at an isolated room at the Sulianto Saroso Hospital in Papanggo, North Jakarta.

M went a trip to South Korea with his parents on June 1-5, where there has recently been an outbreak of MERS. They returned to Indonesia on June 6.

“Since then, the patient has had a fever and throat pain. The family incubated him for 14 days at home,” said Fatmawati, first director at Sulianto Saroso Hospital, as quoted by Tempo today.

M was admitted to the hospital on Monday. Doctors have so far conducted two tests on M to determine if he has MERS. The result will be known tomorrow at the earliest.
