Men can be victims of sexual harassment too, Indonesian netizens are exclaiming after singer Dikta was filmed to be in excruciating pain after a fan allegedly grabbed his crotch.
The 37-year-old bespectacled heartthrob, whose full name is Pradikta Wicaksono and who until last year was part of the renowned band Yovie & Nuno, was filmed entering a building after having to wade through a sea of his fans following a show in Sarinah, Central Jakarta last Friday.
Netizens called out the as-of-yet identified crotch-grabber for sexual harassment, and an apparent lack of immediate outrage towards the incident.
“Bruh, that was sexual harassment,” one user tweeted.
“When a man is the victim, people laugh. But when a woman is a victim, everybody loses their minds,” another chimed in.
Dika, for his part, chose to address the controversy with humor. He posted a story on Instagram yesterday in which he jokingly said he would like to learn to toughen up his privates from China’s “Iron Crotch” kung fu masters.
Fair play to Dikta and we hope he has fully recovered from the ordeal. It should go without saying that sexual harassment is sexual harassment, no matter the gender of the victim.
