An Indonesian model/Instaceleb was arrested by police in the West Java capital of Bandung last night for her alleged involvement in online prostitution.

The influencer, identified as TA, was apprehended in a hotel room by the cyber team under West Java Police’s Special Crime Unit. Shortly after her arrest, TA was escorted by a female officer to the police station with her head covered under a shirt.

Reonald Simanjuntak, who heads the team, said that TA works in the entertainment scene as an actress and model.

“[When she was apprehended] she was in the room with a male [client]. There was evidence, we will explain them further,” Reonald said yesterday.

Police previously apprehended four pimps in different locations — including in Jakarta, Bogor, and Medan — which led them to TA. At the time of publication, TA’s status in the case is still that of a witness.

TA is just the latest in a long line of celebrities and social media personalities to be apprehended on suspicion of prostitution. It’s likely that she will not face prosecution, as Indonesian law criminalizes those who facilitate sex work, and not the sex workers themselves.
