Many women have had to deal with womanizers in their lives. It’s a universal nuisance, and oftentimes borderline creepy, but for a specifically Indonesian take on the problem, Instagrammer Dara Arafah has made a hilarious satire video that pretty much hit the nail on the head.
“Tag your male friends who have a lot of girlfriends! The ones who are always thirsty of women,” Dara wrote on a now hugely viral Instagram post from two days ago.

In case you need help with translation, these are some observations about Indonesian playboys Dara made in the video:
- “See a pretty girl on Instagram? Follow.”
- “A girl got grooves at a club? Ask her name, buy her drinks, bring to your table, bungkhusss.” (bungkus literally means “wrap”, but in this context it can be interpreted as “take her home”)
- “Want a girlfriend, but she has to have light skin tone, with clear and smooth skin? Go date boiled rice noodle!”
- “When he gets a hijabi girl, he takes off her hijab when they’re in a room together.”
The video ends with Dara, wearing a turban, dancing to a dangdut song that went viral two years ago called Lelaki Kardus (Cardboard Man) — about a man who abused and later left his family to marry another woman.
While Dara’s video has been received warmly by many Indonesian netizens, some men who felt called out by Dara’s video responded to her, like comedian Kemal Palevi.
In his video, Kemal said he was hurt by her video because, “Yah, namanya juga cowok, wajar lah (“Yeah, that’s what men are like. It’s a given”). He also blurted out some outdated takes on men-women relationships (he gave one example where his friend illustrated that finding a girlfriend is like “trying on clothing”).
Dara’s video has received more than 1.6 million views and 430K likes at the time of writing — not to mention being reposted by numerous popular social media accounts.
Thanks to the video going hugely viral, Dara’s Instagram followers has drastically increased from 30K to more than 220K in the last two days!
Preach on, girl!
