A social media influencer from Garut, West Java has become one of the most recent victims of revenge porn in Indonesia, after her ex boyfriend/manager leaked their sex tapes online.
The ex, identified as 22-year-old GAS, posted at least four clips of his sexual intercourse with the influencer, 19-year-old RM, to her Instagram page as well as a number of Whatsapp groups on Friday. The duration of the clips ranged from 11 to 20 seconds long, and they had gotten about 2,000 views before RM’s Instagram account disappeared.
RM, who is also a local dangdut singer, only found out about the videos from her relatives after they were uploaded. They were reportedly filmed without her consent, and she proceeded to press charges against him.
This led to GAS’ arrest in Bekasi, West Java on Sunday, when he also admitted to officers from the Garut Police that he leaked the sex tapes out of spite because he was disappointed with RM’s family.
“I deliberately made the videos because I was disappointed with her parents who have set my girlfriend up for marriage with another man,” GAS said, adding that he wanted everyone to know that the couple have had sexual relations.
Garut Police Chief Wirdhanto Hadicaksono said the sex tapes were filmed at a photo studio in July, and that GAS had full access to RM’s social media pages as her manager. The police will also look into the possibility of extortion behind the leak of the videos.
Syam Yosef, RM’s attorney, said that GAS threatened to leak their videos if she objected to having sexual intercourse with him. However, Syam said the leaked clips didn’t show them actually having sex, as they only did the deed after the suspect made his threats. When RM asked for a break up, GAS went on to post the clips online.
GAS has been charged with disseminating pornographic content online, which is punishable by up to 12 years in prison under the country’s anti-pornography law and the Information and Electronic Transactions Act (UU ITE).
