Asking people on the internet to edit your photo rarely ends well.

A Twitter user named Salza found that out on Monday after she tweeted an ID photo of herself wearing a white shirt, black tie, and a black blazer and asked the good netizens of Indonesia for help editing it.

Need help. Can anyone edit this photo so that the blazer is removed?

Speaking to Detik, Salza — a graduate of The State School of Accounting (STAN) — explained that she needed the edited picture for her job application to become a civil servant at the Ministry of Finance.

A few helpful netizens edited her photo as requested.

“If there’s something missing please tell me, so I can revise it right away”

But the temptation to memeify her innocent request became overwhelming and in a short time Salsa’s face has become famous on the Indonesian interwebs after dozens, if not hundreds of people, shared their own funny edits of her photo.

Some toyed with the phrasing in her request for help and edited the photo by taking out Salza, not the blazer:

Another “misheard” “jas” (blazer) to mean the popular Honda car model Jazz.

“Maybe you prefer [Toyota] Yaris instead”

There’s also an edit of her wearing the ridiculous costume from rappers Kanye West and Lil Pump’s music video, I Love It.

In this one, the blazer is finally gone, thanks to the celebrity illusionist Demian Aditya.

Is this a marriage proposal?

“I can’t remove your blazer, but I can remove your single status and become the best spouse possible #RoadToHalal2019”

Numerous companies and even government organizations also joined in the fun.

“Hope we could help. If there’s anything you need, please follow us first, then we could help you more”

“Is this what you’re looking for? Sorry we took so long, our creative team just arrived”

“We helped as much as we could. If you want another version, please request via DM, thanks”

“Good luck on your basic training and serving at the Directorate General of Taxation, Salza. You may hand this picture to the [basic training] committees”

As of this afternoon, Salza’s original tweet has been retweeted over 29,000 times and received more than 20,000 likes.

While this kind of viral fame must be weird, it should be noted that almost all of the photoshops we saw were in good taste and good fun. Hopefully all this newfound fame will help Salza land that job at the Ministry of Finance — they’ll definitely recognize the picture on her application, that’s for sure.
