The reported suicide of K-Pop superstar Kim Jong-hyun from the boyband SHINee has been mourned around the world, including in Indonesia, where the 27-year-old singer has a huge, dedicated fan base.
Jong-hyun’s death hit one Indonesian SHINee fan (globally known as “Shawol”) particularly hard, as local media outlet Tabloid Bintang reported that she attempted suicide after the recent loss of some of her family members, her depression compounded by her idol’s passing.
The fan went on Twitter to post a couple of suicide notes on Monday before claiming that she tried to kill herself by overdosing on an unspecified substance.
