Motorcycle taxi and delivery drivers (ojol, as they are affectionately called in Indonesia) often go underappreciated for making our lives significantly more convenient. Perhaps that is why netizens are sympathizing with an ojol driver who was allegedly robbed of his precious time.
A video, shared by ojol community account @dramaojol.id, has gone viral purportedly showing a driver who was livid about having to wait three hours for his customer’s order at a popular Middle Eastern chain restaurant.
The video shows the driver storming inside the restaurant and screaming in Indonesian at an employee about the three-hour wait. He also slams his hand on the counter while one employee tries to give him a hug to calm him down.
It’s not yet clear exactly when and where the video was taken.
Netizens mostly sided with the driver. One commenter, who claims to be a driver himself, said it’s not uncommon for restaurants to push back ojol orders in favor of dine-in customers during especially busy hours.
“In three hours the driver could’ve received other passengers or delivery orders. Please humanize them,” one commenter wrote.
“I don’t condone the driver’s behavior but the restaurant went too far with the three-hour wait. If they’re overloaded with orders, maybe they should switch off online orders so they can just focus on dine-in orders,” another suggested.
Tip our ojol drivers well, folks.
