The Indonesian ambassador to Pakistan, Burhan Muhammad, passed away early this morning at the Singapore General Hospital after succumbing to injuries from a helicopter crash. He follows his wife, Hery Listyawati, who died in the same helicopter crash in Pakistan on May 8.
“It’s true, he (Burhan Muhammad) has passed, at 12:50am local (Singapore) time,” said Foreign Ministry Retno Lestari Marsudi, as quoted by Metro TV today.
Retno added that Burhan’s body will be flown to Indonesia today for a funeral.
On May 8, a helicopter carrying foreign dignitaries, including Burhan Muhammad and Hery Listyawati, crashed in Pakistan. Hery died instantly among six others, whereas Burhan suffered from serious burns.
Burhan was taken to be treated to Singapore on May 12. He showed signs of recovery after an operation, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries early this morning.
