Indonesia Corruption Watch scores President Jokowi 5 out of 10 for his first 100 days in office

Things are face-palm awful for President Jokowi at the moment

Report cards are in, and it doesn’t look good for President Joko Widodo. To mark his 100th day in office today, Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) scored Jokowi a disappointing 5 out of 10, specifically in legal and justice matters.

“When it comes to justice issues, we give Pak Jokowi a five,” said Donal Fariz, researcher at ICW, as quoted by Tempo today.

Donal said Jokowi hasn’t come up with any breakthrough for the country’s legal and justice problems. In addition, Jokowi rarely talks about corruption eradication.

“Pak Jokowi prioritizes infrastructure building and economic growth agendas more often. But that [growth] would be futile if the money is corrupted,” he said.

Donal also scored Jokowi a five when it comes to institutional matters, as he gave up many vital positions in the government to people from his affiliated political parties.

“Alright, I’ll give him a 5.5 since the new Constitutional Court chief (Arief Hidayat) is pretty good and he consulted the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission) before he picked his ministers. Unfortunately, he’s inconsistent,” Donal said.
