If impeached, Governor Ahok wants to try stand up comedy

Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama threw a few jokes at his guests from the European Union (EU) Parliament at City Hall today, prompting him to think of an alternative career if he was ever forced out of politics.

“If I were impeached as governor, I want to try stand up comedy. The Europeans laughed, that means I’m pretty good. I can be popular,” Ahok joked, as quoted by Vivanews today.

Ahok, of course, was referring to the minute possibility the Jakarta City Council (DPRD) could remove him from his position. Ahok and the DPRD are still locked in a finger-pointing battle in regards to irregularities in the Jakarta Regional Budget (APBD).

To his EU Parliament guests, Ahok said they should learn a thing or two from the DPRD.

“Let them learn how to make money because our councilors have small salaries but they live lavishly. I told them that, and they all laughed,” he said.
