In another episode of Honest People the World Needs More of, a janitor working at Medan’s Kualanamu Airport is being showered with praise in Indonesia after she did not take home 97 grams of gold a traveler had left behind.

Dewi Lestari was cleaning a toilet at the airport on Dec. 4 when she noticed a jewelry box unattended at a nearby waiting room. She opened the box to find golden jewelry, which was later found to weigh 97 grams, and immediately handed it over to aviation security.

The airport management praised Dewi publicly for her honesty and following lost and found protocols despite the clear temptation.

“If I took it, the owner would be looking for it, and I would lose my job. Either way I would’ve been ashamed,” Dewi told reporters today.

The actual value of the jewelry is unknown. If it were pure gold, it would be valued at around IDR90 million (US$6,283).

Nobody has claimed the jewelry as of this article’s publication, and the valuable item is still being kept by aviation security.
