A fire broke out at the Tax Directorate’s central office building on Jalan Gatot Subroto, South Jakarta, early this morning.
Photos from the Jakarta Traffic Management Center’s official Twitter account shows that the fire started at around 5:30 am, reportedly on the basement level.
According to Vivanews, witnesses say the fire was caused by a malfunctioning electrical substation which was sparking visibly before the fire began.
One employee of the Tax Directorate, Fahmi, said the entire building was closed due to the fire and all employees were told via Whatsapp that they should not come into work until Monday.
The fire was extinguished at around 7am. However, fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze. Traffic on Gatot Subroto in front of the building still remains especially heavy, so avoid the area if at all possible.
