A domestic worker reported her employers to the Jakarta Police after claiming she was physically abused with boiling water and a hot iron in her employer’s home in Menteng, Central Jakarta.
In addition to the abuse, the victim, Nisa Binti Muhima, who had worked for her employers ‘TC’ and ‘MJ’ for 30 years, said she has not been paid for the past couple of years.
“The victim worked for the suspects since 1984 to July 2014. She hasn’t been paid for the past two years and admitted that she was being physically abused, so she ran away,” said Rikwanto, Head of Public Relations at the Jakarta Police, as quoted by Warta Kota on Thursday.
The victim reported her employers to the police with the help of a lawyer from the Hartono law firm.Rikwanto said the police investigated the victim, who is illiterate, on November 19. The police are now gathering evidence for the case before they could arrest the suspects on a domestic violence charge.
