Health Minister unhappy with lack of seating for pregnant women in bookstores

Our Health Minister, Nila F. Moeloek, is really looking out for pregnant women in Indonesia. She even went as far as suggesting that bookstores in Indonesia should be more pregnant women-friendly.

In particular, Minister Nila doesn’t think bookstores in Indonesia provide an adequate amount of seating for pregnant women who want to hang out in bookstores and perhaps read to their tummy.

“They (bookstores) don’t provide [seating] because maybe many people want to just sit around and read without buying,” Minister Nila said, as quoted by Warta Kota.

She said bookstores should at least provide seating for pregnant women because reading while standing up could have adverse effects on pregnancy.

She also reminded shopping malls to provide adequate maternity rooms, as well as reading corners.

The fate of our future generations should be safe in the hands of someone as nurturing as Minister Nila.
