The police are scratching their heads regarding the finding of a headless corpse underneath the Pluit elevated toll road last Friday.
“[The police are] still performing a traffic accident analysis and an autopsy [on the body],” said Jakarta Police Spokesman Mohammad Iqbal, as quoted by Okezone today.
When found, the victim’s head was separated from the body. The head was also almost completely destroyed, decreasing the chances of determining the identity of the victim, who wasn’t carrying any identifying documents at the time of death.
The police have not concluded whether the death was a result of a traffic accident or a criminal act. Witnesses are giving the police contradictory statements.
“Some witnesses say they saw the body thrown off, others say they saw the body in a traffic accident. But our team is working, we’re still figuring out the cause of death,” Iqbal said.
