Vice Chairman of the Jakarta City Council, Abraham “Haji Lulung” Lunggana did not exist on the Twittersphere when the hashtag #SaveHajiLulung – which poked fun at the councilor’s gaffe – became a worldwide trending topic.
Despite not knowing what Twitter even was until recently, Haji Lulung has apparently decided he doesn’t want to miss out on the cyber party anymore, so he joined the social network as @halus24 two days ago. And, in true Haji Lulung fashion, he has already gifted us with another howler:
That’s right, Haji Lulung doesn’t need to understand proper Twitter terminologies when he can invent his own.
Netizens were quick to pick up on Haji Lulung’s embarrassing mistake and ‘mattioned’ the lawmaker in their tweets:
We found it hard to believe that Haji Lulung would make a fool of himself time and time again. We even thought that the Twitter account wasn’t actually his (since it doesn’t have Twitter’s blue checkmark of verification), but Kompas confirmed its authenticity today.
We wouldn’t be surprised if Twitter officially changes the term ‘mention’ to ‘mattion’ to please the person who is arguably the most popular man on Twitter these days.
