Late last week, Jakarta City Council (DPRD) Vice Chairman Abraham “Haji Lulung” Lunggana went from simply being a nemesis of Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama to Internet superstar when ahe mistakenly referred to UPS (uninterrupted power supply) as USB, leading netizens to create the satirical hashtag, #SaveHajiLulung, which went on to become a number one worldwide trending topic on Twitter and meme sensation.
In case any of you felt bad for Lulung because the entire Indonesian internet was making fun of him, you don’t need to worry. Apparently he has no idea what Twitter even is.
“Twitter is one of those things I don’t understand,” Lulung said during a discussion at a hotel on Saturday, as quoted by Tribunnews.
The vice chairman said his staff warned him not to open the social media site, but it seems doubtful that he would understand what people were saying about him even if he could.
Nevertheless, Lulung said he was grateful to hear about the #SaveHajiLulung hashtag.
“I thank you because I do not understand anything (about that),” he said.
