Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama said he will add approximately 500 new buses to the Transjakarta fleet. According to him, these buses will be added in stages until the end of this year.
“The deliveries have already started. I leave it to the manufacturer depending on their ability to produce the buses,” Ahok said today as quoted by Tempo.
According Ahok, the buses will be built inside the country and should last much longer than previous Transjakarta fleets. The buses are being purchased from car manufacturers Scania, Hino, and Hyundai.
In addition to the new Transjakarta armada, the president director of PT Transportasi Jakarta, Antonius Kosasih, said that by October they will have added 120 new medium-sized Kopaja buses from Toyota to Jakarta’s streets.
