Governor Ahok apologizes for using foul language

You’ve probably seen by now the video of Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama saying “shit” several times live on national television earlier this week.

Ahok said he apologizes for the controversy, but he also said his use of foul language was quite justified.

“If people feel offended or did not like my ‘toilet language’ statement, then I’m sorry,” he said at City Hall today, as quoted by Warta Kota

“But I went into politics because of my anger. As a businessman, I couldn’t help the poor by giving them Rp 500 thousand or even Rp 1 billion. So to be honest, I became a politician in the midst of anger; the anger of seeing corrupt officials but appear so respectable in public, while the people remain very poor. That’s why I’m angry. It was the hatred from my heart. I couldn’t hold it in (the anger) anymore and it just got out.”

Do you think Ahok’s justification is acceptable, or should he learn to control his temper in the future?
