Garuda Indonesia has made an incredible turnaround over the last 7 years, going from an airline dogged by a reputation for poor safety and service to being praised as one of the best in Asia. A large part of that turnaround must be attributed to Garuda’s cabin crews, who have been consistently been rated among the best in the industry.
As further proof of that, the results of the most recent Skytrax World Airline Awards were just announced and Garuda Indonesia was awarded the ”World’s Best Airline Cabin Crew” award for the third year in a row.
The prestigious annual awards, which Skytrax says are based on the results of the world’s largest airline passenger satisfaction survey, bestow honors on airlines in a variety of categories. The award for the best cabin crew “recognises the highest all-round performance of an airline’s cabin staff, and covers ‘hard’ service such as techniques, efficiency, attention etc, together with the ‘soft’ service characteristics such as staff enthusiasm, attitude, friendliness and overall hospitality.”
Coming in just behind Garuda in the cabin crew rankings was ANA All Nippon Airways in second place and Singapore Airlines in third place.
In the overall best airlines category, Emirates topped the list at number one, followed by Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines. AirAsia took top honors in the best low-cost airline category.
Part of the reason that Garuda’s cabin crew works so hard might be that the company treats their employees well. A good example of that is an incident in which two passengers sexually harassed one of their flight attendants earlier this year, after which the airline took swift and severe action to protect the attendant and punish the passengers.
