Despite turbulence behind the scenes due to talks about a possible strike by pilots and crew (which didn’t end up happening), Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia is still recognized as one of the best airlines in the world and still has the best cabin crew.
That’s according to Skytrax, the world’s leading airline and airport review site, which yesterday announced the winners of the 2018 World Airline Awards in London. Garuda extended its domination in the hospitality department once again, taking home the “Best Cabin Crew” award for an impressive fifth year running.

Not only that, Garuda also cracked the top 10 of the world’s best airlines, landing at number nine. The airline did one place better than last year and has generally been ranked thereabouts, with its best ranking being seventh in 2014.
Apparently, there's more than that one award. Take a closer look! It's a pleasure to be ranked 9th among all the best airlines in the world by Skytrax! pic.twitter.com/PaFKhmGphd

Garuda performed a remarkable turnaround since its troubled period in the late 1990s to mid-2000s to emerge as not just as the best airline in Indonesia, but one of the best in the world, ranking up numerous industry accolades. The airline has also done well on numerous travelers’ choice awards in recent years, being named the 10th best airline in the world by Tripadvisor users as well as being named the world’s “most loved airline” in a customer satisfaction survey conducted by Skytrax.
