Garuda Indonesia to provide free Wi-Fi on all their flights soon

Many of us have felt that dread of being temporarily disconnected from the world (AKA the internet) every time we’re thousands of miles above ground on an airplane.

But some airplanes actually provide in-flight Wi-Fi connections. And soon, all of Garuda Indonesia’s fleet will be equipped with Wi-Fi its passengers can use for free.

“In the next few years, we’re going to install free Wi-Fi [on all of our planes]. We’ve already begun [installing Wi-Fi] on our wide-body [airplanes], but soon we’ll install it on every plane,” said Garuda Indonesia First Director Arif Wibowo at the Airports and Aviation Business Forum 2015 in JCC Senayan, as quoted by Detik today.

At the moment, passengers can connect to Garuda’s Wi-Fi on some wide body airplanes such as on their Boeing 777-300 fleet. The connection is available to all classes of seats.

Garuda has a total of 143 planes in its fleet. The airline won the “World’s Best Economy Class” award from SkyTrax in 2013.
