Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons lately, most notably related to the huge air hostess prostitution scandal that rocked the airline late last year. But now, there’s some respite from all the turbulence in Garuda, as a new study has found that it is the most punctual airline in the world in 2019.

The study was conducted by UK-based aviation data analyst OAG, which measured airline punctuality all over the world throughout last year. Garuda topped the list with an OTP (On-Time Performance) score of 95.01 percent, beating Panama’s Copa Airlines (92.01 percent) and Japan’s Skymark Airlines (90.12 percent), which came in second and third, respectively.

The only other Indonesian airline to crack the global top 20 was Indonesia AirAsia in 20th, with an OTP score of 82.41 percent.

To be deemed on time under OAG’s guidelines, a flight must arrive or depart no later than 15 minutes from its scheduled time.

Garuda actually consistently gains impressively high OTP scores with OAG. In June 2019, it also topped OAG’s punctuality ranking with an OTP score of 91.6 percent based on data collected from June 2018 to May 2019.
